Books
We have a long history in books and we like what books do.
At OPP, we're working on cutting-edge projects that we hope stimulate people to think about books as a package of artistic information. Print-on-demand technology lets us move fast, take risks and have fun with the form. We want you to come along for the ride as we announce several new publishing projects in the coming months.
Our current catalog offers poetry, Buddhist wisdom, communitarian art and a forthcoming graphic novel that dares to ride the wild side of Southern life. Early 2008 releases also include a series of media + art journals to light up the mind.
Think you have an interesting idea for a book? Pitch us. We will try almost anything once.
Our authors and imprints include:
Geshe Dapka Topygal: A Tibetan Buddhist monk who entered Drepung Loseling Monastery at the age of 10 and received his Geshe degree (Doctorate of Religion and Philosophy) in 1992 after 22 years of study. He has been resident monk of the Charleston Tibetan Society in Charleston, SC, since 1996, and OPP carries two of his books: Essential Ethics (2007) and Holistic Health: A Tibetian Monk's View (2006).
10 to 15 Studios: A group of graphic novel artists and writers with a taste for Rough South noir. The first volume of their serialized collection - 5 Days in The Clink - will be released in early 2008.
Marcus Amaker: The Soft Papercut is Marcus's most recently splendid work of graphic design / poetry. You can buy the book at Amazon.com.
Pieces of Sanity, the book, was published in real time with the production of the Charleston multi-media art event of the same name. Featuring the works of participating artists, musicians and poets. This was OPP's first live event / book publishing project and is a unique collaboration between over 20 artists. Designed by Marcus Amaker. Cover Illustration by Baird Hoffmire.
