Frankfurt Book and Film Festival 2007

Quick update on our return from the Frankfurt Book Fair, which included a exposition on film I was able to attend for two days. As my first real trade show, it was definitely a learning experience. We felt good about the direction OPP is taking after attending some workshops on Children's Books and New Media and a very interesting seminar on the merging of graphic novels and film. I was able to learn a lot about contracts, agents and other "traditional" publishing and film rights issues. Mitchell was working at the fair for a business venture he is participating in at Bibliobazaar.

The fair is a totally overwhelming cultural event with over 20,000 people from over 100 countries - all involved in the book or film trade. It is really where BookSurge (Mitchell's previous business) grew it's international book fulfillment operation so holds a special place for him. It was cool to get to tag along this year and see what all the hype was about. It definitely lived up to the hype.

A post is forthcoming about hooking up with the Ani DiFranco tour in Milan, but for now some interesting graffiti and street art encountered on our trip:
